Scriptapalooza Alumni team finishes feature film
The independent film Mama Duck, a dark comedy written and directed by the Scriptapalooza Alumni award-winning team of Jack Gorman and Shannon Walsh, has finished filming in the Greater Los Angeles area. Catharine Daddario (IF, The Tomorrow Job) and Austin Woods (American Horror Story, The Rookie) are attached to star alongside Walsh.​ Mama Duck follows Caeli (Walsh), an aspiring animator who moves across the country to escape her overbearing family. Her promising new start is derailed by the reappearance of her college sweetheart Sabrina (Daddario) and the news of her brother Jake’s (Woods) cancer diagnosis, forcing her to confront the delicate balance between her personal struggles and the pursuit of her dreams.

Giant Void, penned by 2021 Scriptapalooza runner-up Michael Reisinger, is set to commence production with Molly Burnett attached to star. Shooting will begin August 5th in Denver. The story is about a lonely programmer who makes a startling discovery that upends her place in the universe.

DUSK premieres at Berlin Film Festival
Vasilios Bouzas premieres his film, “DUSK,” at the prestigious Berlin Film Festival this week.
Reflecting on the transformative journey, Bouzas acknowledges the pivotal role played by organizations like Scriptapalooza in nurturing emerging talents within the industry. With gratitude, he reminisces about the invaluable feedback and guidance received during his formative years as a first-time writer.

“I think back at the years that have passed and the job you guys do at Scriptapalooza is great in helping people like myself (first timers) get started in the industry,” shares Bouzas. “The feedback you gave me on my script all those years ago was very thorough and it set me on the right direction where from there I developed a novella and passed on your notes to producers here in Australia.”
